Turkey’s widening investigation into illegal betting in professional football saw a new wave on 26 December 2025. Prosecutors ordered the detention of 29 suspects; 24 were detained, including Erden Timur, a former Galatasaray executive.
Reports said four suspects were still being sought and one suspect was already in custody on a separate case. The investigation also reportedly involves players from Turkish leagues and focuses on alleged betting-related misconduct within professional football.
