Trabzonspor has turned down a lucrative sponsorship offer from Coca-Cola, citing the events in Palestine and the ongoing humanitarian tragedy as the main reason. The board decided that partnering with the global soft drink giant at a time when civilians are being killed in Gaza would not be compatible with the club’s values and social stance.
After rejecting Coca-Cola, the club turned its attention to domestic alternatives. Trabzonspor accepted a sponsorship offer from the local beverage company Sarıyer, choosing to fill the gap with a homegrown brand instead of another multinational. With the new deal, Sarıyer products are set to take a visible place around the stadium and in matchday operations.
This decision is being read as a clear message: supporting Palestine and prioritizing local producers can go hand in hand. Many fans on social media have praised Trabzonspor for its attitude, arguing that football is not only about results on the pitch but also about standing behind the right causes off the pitch.
