Yalova Daesh operation: judicial process — 5 suspects detained

Yalova’daki DEAŞ operasyonunda adli süreç: 5 şüpheli gözaltında

New developments have been reported in the judicial process following the counter-terrorism operation targeting ISIS/Daesh in Yalova. Authorities said multiple prosecutors have been assigned to the investigation and five suspects have been detained on suspicion of links to the case.

The operation involved a planned raid at a residence in Yalova. An armed clash reportedly erupted after suspects opened fire on police teams, and the operation continued for hours. Officials stated that women and children inside the residence were evacuated safely. After the clash, authorities announced that the targeted militants were neutralized. The incident also resulted in fallen and wounded security personnel.

Two main lines of inquiry are now in focus:
1) The ISIS/Daesh structure connected to the address and any individuals who may have assisted or enabled the attack,
2) Manipulative content and “provocative” social media posts circulated after the incident.

In this context, a separate effort is being carried out regarding provocative online content, and officials said some suspects were apprehended. At the same time, counter-terrorism investigations against ISIS/Daesh continue in other provinces, with a particular focus on any links that may relate back to Yalova.

Next steps in the judicial process include prosecutor interviews, evidence assessment, and—if deemed necessary—referral to a criminal court for decisions such as arrest, judicial control, or release. The legal status of the detained suspects and the scope of the investigation are expected to become clearer as official updates are released.
